All our teachers have high formal qualifications in their subjects and also have good teaching qualifications. Most have previous experience of teaching.
Our Mandarin teachers are all native speakers. On our staff we have an excellent and experienced teacher-trainer who gives training to all our Mandarin teachers.
Golnar Malek is a creative learning manager and a mixed media artist with architectural background. She has an extensive knowledge in facilitating teamwork and holds a Master's degree in Interdisciplinary Design from the University of Cambridge and a Master of Architecture from Azad University of Tehran. She has previously been working as an artist in residence at Christ's College Visual Arts Centre (University of Cambridge) for 7 years. She has been exhibiting since 1999, and her paintings are held in both public and private collections in the UK, including at Christ’s College and Murray Edwards College, Cambridge University.
She has experience of teaching a range of age levels from primary school to teenagers. She has run classes at the evening art school at Christ’s College, Cambridge, and has also taught in collaboration with other teachers at Kettle’s Yard.
Victoria Ledwidge achieved triple Distinctions during her two year acting
training in Guildford (GSA). She is a professionally working actress as
well as an experienced teacher.
Professional theatre credits include performing at London Southbank in
'Jungly Jadoogar' during the Alchemy Festival, playing Vicki Smith in
'Caught in the Net' at Hever Castle Festival Theatre and playing Mrs
Barrymore in a tour of 'Hound of the Baskervilles'. She also has a lot
of screen experience, appearing on BBC2's mini series 'Money' where she
played the Airhostess, as well as channel 5's 'Suffolk Strangler' where
she played Annette Nicholls. She also regularly features in advertising
campaigns, such as the recent Head&Shoulders viral ad. She has a
particular strength in comedy and recently appeared in a series of
comedy sketches for an internet campaign for the international company,
Victoria regularly works with children and is also SEN and Makaton
trained. She has successfully coached children for LAMDA examinations,
all achieving Merit and above. She has previous experience devising and
directing performances with children during her time leading the
Performing Arts Saturday school, Enter Stage Right.
What to expect in her class:
Victoria is very excited to be joining the De Yin team. Her drama
classes will include learning poetry and preparation for LAMDA
examinations, movement work, characterisation, Classical theatre, vocal
training, improvisation and devising.
Classes will be determined by age group, with a suitable schedule
according to each groups ability. She brings incredible enthusiasm and
energy to her classes, making it enjoyable for all.
